Decarb MEP
Decarbonisation solutions

Zero-carbon heating and hot water, without the chemicals.

Decarb MEP Ltd helps building owners, contractors and consultants move their heating and hot water plant to zero carbon, and keeps those systems healthy with chemical-free water treatment.

What we do

From survey to plant to water quality

We work on wet heating and hot water systems: low temperature hot water (LTHW) heating circuits and domestic hot water (DHW) supply. We look at where the heat comes from, how much the building actually needs, and what the water inside the pipes is doing to the plant.

Chemical-free water treatment

Replace inhibitor and biocide dosing in closed heating and cooling loops with physical treatment: demineralised fill water, electrochemical oxygen removal and filtration, working to VDI 2035 water quality targets. For new installations and existing systems.

Zero-carbon heating and hot water plant

Electric water boilers, high-capacity hot water heaters, heat pumps and heat recovery equipment from ECOTHERM, selected and sized for the duty of the building.

Survey and system sizing

A site survey, heat loss calculations against local design conditions, and a clear quotation with the full technical datasheet for the equipment proposed.

Chemical-free water treatment

Treat the water, not the damage

Corrosion, sludge and bacteria in a closed loop are driven by three things: dissolved oxygen, conductivity and pH. Chemical-free treatment controls those three directly, so there is nothing to dose, top up or dispose of.

  1. Fill with demineralised water

Salts and minerals are removed from the fill and make-up water, so it carries almost no scale-forming hardness and very little for bacteria to feed on.

  2. Take the oxygen out

A side-stream unit holds sacrificial magnesium anodes. They react with dissolved oxygen in preference to the system's steel, and the reaction settles the water at a mildly alkaline pH.

  3. Filter and monitor

Built-in filtration and magnets capture debris. Conductivity, pH and oxygen are checked against the targets, and anodes and resin are renewed when the readings say so.

  • No hazardous chemicals to store, handle or dispose of
  • No routine dosing and inhibitor testing
  • Protects heat exchangers, heat pumps and boilers from corrosion and scale
  • Suits underfloor heating, heat pumps, communal and district heating, and large commercial loops
